I met the Skeens family at last spring’s HCU Conference in Boston. They are from Beckley, WV and their son, Landon, was diagnosed with Classical Homocystinuria at the age of 4. Landon’s Mom, Rachel, reports that since diagnosis and the beginning of his treatment, his health has improved greatly.
Landon is now in the 6th grade and for the first time ever, he made a 4.0 GPA! He has truly come a long way with his developmental delays and physical weaknesses. Landon struggles with the low protein diet the most. The medications, doctor’s appointment, and blood work – he’s used to, but the older the gets, the harder the diet becomes. The Skeens family are all hoping that a better therapy is in the future!
